Full Description

This document specifies the physical layer requirements for a CarrierSense MultipleAccess/Collision Resolution (CSMA/CR) data link which operates on asingle wire medium tocommunicate among Electronic Control Units (ECU) on road vehicles atnormal transmission rates of33.333 Kbits/s and at a special high speed assembly or servicetransmission bit rate of 83.333Kbits/s.

This document is to be referenced by the particular ComponentTechnical Specification whichdescribes any given ECU in which the single wire data link controllerand physical layer interfaceis located. Only the performance of the data link physical layer isspecified in this document. ECUenvironmental and other requirements shall be provided in theComponent Technical Specification.

The intended audience includes, but is not limited to ECU suppliers,Controller Area Network (CAN)controller suppliers, CAN transceiver suppliers, component releaseengineers and platform systemengineers.
