GMW GMW14188 Squeak & Rattle Degradation (Subassembly, Subsystem and Component) Evaluation Procedure
standard by General Motors Worldwide , 06/01/2005
Note: Nothing in the specification supersedes applicable laws andregulations unless specificexemption has been obtained.
Note: In the event of conflict between the English and domesticlanguage, the English languageshall take precedence.
Purpose.
To provide a means performing Squeak Rattle (SR)diagnostics or subjectively evaluatingsubassemblies, subsystems or components for squeak and rattleperformance relative to vibrationdegradation over normal life expectancy.
This procedure is intended for Development work only and not forValidation.
Forward.
This degradation test is based on MIL Standard 810, which states thetotal test time may beexponentially reduced relative to a linear increase in test load. Therelationship between testtime and load is governed by the equation explained in Appendix A.
This test is limited to degrading a subassembly, subsystem orcomponent due to random simulatedroad vibration inputs only. It does not address environmental effects, static load effects orcustomer actuated inputs.
Please refer to the Squeak and Rattle Website for the "CompleteMulti-axis Vibration Tables", tofind the vibration test profiles.
All evaluations called for in this procedure are documented inGMW7293TP and GMN7000 and should beperformed in accord with GMW7293TP and GMN7000.
Applicability.
This procedure is applicable to any automotive subassembly, subsystemor component where squeaksand rattles are a concern and the vibration environment can besimulated.
Definitions.
